El popular grupo, que volvió loca a toda una generación de adolescentes, está recopilando ideas para grabar en 2012 su octavo disco, que será la continuación del de 2009 llamado 'This is Us'.
"Una de las cosas que pasará el año que viene es que estaremos en el estudio de grabación trabajando en nuestro nuevo disco", comentó el cantante Howie D para el canal online de televisión Clewer Music.
Howie D, junto con el resto de componentes del grupo formado por Brian Littrell, Nick Carter y A.J. McLean, también afirmó que a pesar de que el grupo no ha grabado ni actuado desde el año 1993, siguen "estando en forma" y que para el nuevo disco trabajarán con grandes productores musicales que les harán tener un sonido fresco y actual.
"Ese es siempre el gran reto de trabajar en un nuevo disco, el ir más allá y situarlo en lo alto de las listas, pero eso es lo que hacemos. Esta es una de las razones por las que nos tomamos nuestro tiempo para hacer la grabación lo mejor posible. No hacerlo todo corriendo, así podremos estar a la última sobre lo que se lleva", añadió el cantante.
Los Backstreet Boys estarán de gira en el 2012 por Europa e irán acompañados de otro grupo que marcó época, los New Kids on the Block. El espectáculo llevará el nombre de NKOTHBSB.

Howie D confirms Backstreet Boys album in 2012
Howie D stopped by Clevver Music for a live, acoustic performance of his new single, "Lie to Me," for the site's special 'Live on Sunset' series. Howie also gave an exclusive interview where he discusses going solo, touring, and reveals that a new Backstreet Boys album is in the works for 2012.
When asked how the Backstreet Boys reinvent themselves with each album, Howie says, "That's always the challenge working on new albums; trying to push the envelope, trying to always top the last album. But that's what we do. That's one of the reasons why we take our time to make the record the best it can be."

Just married! Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean and new wife flash sparkling wedding rings
Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean his new wife flashed their dazzling wedding rings for the first time last night.
The 33-year-old singer and model bride Rochelle DeAnna Karidis proudly revealed their co-ordinated diamond encrusted bands.
The tattooed newlyweds were clearly in a state of wedded bliss, exchanging kisses as they made their way into the Guns N' Roses concert in Los Angeles.
Fellow band members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, and former member Kevin Richardson were believed to have attended.
AJ - who proposed back in January last year - posted excited tweets the day before the ceremony, which was officiated by his pal and celebrity photographer Tyler Shields on Saturday.
On Friday he took to Twitter, posting: 'Wedding is tomorrow. Ro and I could barely sleep last night. I think we're a little excited.'
Following the service, guests continued the celebrations at the hotel's Crystal ballroom for a goth-inspired evening of food and dance.
AJ and Rochelle recently moved from Hollywood to the Valley area of Los Angeles to live in a bigger home in preparation to start a family.
However, speaking earlier this year he said he is in no big rush to start having children.
'I think we'll be married for about three years before we have kids,' he explained.
Back in January, McLean checked himself into rehab to seek treatment for substance abuse.
It came just two months after the singer, whose real name is Alexander James, and his the Backstreet Boys announced plans to stage a comeback.
He has been in rehab twice before, once in 2001 and again in 2002, for addiction to alcohol and cocaine

¡Veintañeras y treintañeras!, ¿quién no recuerda a aquellos 5 chicos que cantaban en el grupo Backstreet Boys?. ¡Reconocedlo! y aunque sólo sea para divertirnos… ¿recordáis cómo se llamaban?.
